My word or theme for the year was JOY. I focused on only taking on projects that would bring me joy. It helped me say ‘no’ to projects that weren’t the right fit, and to continue to transition my role in my business into one that involved the tasks and responsibilities that I most love, and therefore have the greatest impact, as well as focusing the time I have back into building the part of my life that brings me the most joy – my home and family.
In this year, I am most grateful for my family, my team, and my community. I couldn’t have built such a dream job without them. I’m most grateful for the people around me who support me, and who takes part in doing all the cool things that we get to do together.
My favorite end-of-year tradition is setting new goals for the next year. I make monthly revenue goals, add them up for a new revenue goal for the year, and set my theme/intention for the year. I do some journaling around what I’m grateful for, and for what I hope the new year brings.
In 2017, it will be time for practicing mindfulness and continuing to let go of stress to optimize my impact and the positive change I can bring to the world.
In 2017, I will remember that working smarter is immensely better than working harder. More impact, more focus, more automation. More time for life.
Meet Emily! Emily was a self-starter from the get-go and began her trajectory of being her own boss by owning a tanning salon in college – no joke. From there, she started making and selling jewelry online which fueled her passion for online business as a whole. She moved from designing jewelry to designing websites at Indie Shopography where her natural talent for coding, project management, and ability to use metrics to make calculated decisions has allowed her to continue to expand reach and impact for online business owners ever since.
Emily uses that experience to share what she knows about building an online business on the Being Boss podcast, where she inspires, writes, and curates content to help creatives own their path and be more boss.
