My word or theme for the year was EFFICIENCY! Which was so much about me creating a feasible work life balance after too many years of letting my work rule my world. It was the perfect word to keep me on track and helped me focus on what was in front of me to do.
In this year, I have honored a 6.5 year run with my online e-course, SouLodge, drawing it to a close with grace and the most powerful animal totems: Hawk, Wolf and Owl. I have honored love — I got engaged! I honored my son by bringing him home to meet his specific education needs. I honored my boundaries by releasing a relationship which no longer served me (it was tough, but I made it through!). I honored my limits by saying no to an epic number of opportunities which I would have loved to participate in (if I were an octopus). I honored my creativity by writing my second book. I honored my body by eliminating some offending agents (nightshades, get thee behind me) which were causing me all sorts of distress.
In this year, I am most grateful for family. Grace cards from those who mean the most to me. Cutting cords. Creating time. Every minute I’ve spent outdoors. The herd of deer who ate my lilacs. The Great Horned Owls who perched on the pasture fence and hooted magically. The dream team of mystics who gather to retreat on this land each Summer.
My favorite end-of-year tradition is sitting by the fire on New Year’s Eve and drawing a tarot card (my favorite deck) for every month, as well as a guiding, overseer card for the year.
In 2017, it will be time for pacing myself, writing, collaborating, action, advocacy, activism, VOICE.
