Compliments, Turn Ons and Stolen Kisses, In That Order

HEATHER-GRAHAM-IMAGE (1)Hi! I’m Heather Mae Graham but I prefer my self-given nickname, Heymae! I live in Chico, California with my family: Ian, my high-school sweetheart and husband of 14 years(!!!!), My two crazy energetic boys Zane (12) and Rocky (6), my golden doodle, Lucy, and my three cats Maleficent, Aurora and Aries.

I recently quit my job as Director of Sales for an e-commerce company to branch out on my own. I am loving being a consultant and letting my intuition be the guide on my next big venture! Right now I am feeling called towards Social Entrepreneurship. Super powers include lightening the mood, loving fiercely, and fixing problems Olivia Pope style.

Let’s do some one word answers! Ready, set go!

Morning Drink: I basically only drink water, ever.
Indulgence: Make-up & Skincare. Specifically, buying a new compact to add to my collection every time MAC puts out a new line. Creative packaging is my weakness!
Lusting after: The Hamilton Soundtrack on Vinyl
Spirit Animal: A hybrid Hummingbird/Squirrel
Head space: You know that ride at the fair that spins around really, really fast until people throw up? That.
Heart space: Feeling the weight of the world, but hopeful.
Bloom of Choice: Yellow Tulips
Turn-on: Quiet confidence, intelligence and soft brown eyes.
Go-to Gemstone: Amethyst
Celebrity Icon: Sophia Bush. Loved her in One Tree Hill, love her even more now that she has grown into an inspiring philanthropist and all around bad-ass woman.
Favorite Compliment: If I am honest it’s any compliment of an area I don’t feel strong in, especially a physical compliment (done in the right way, of course). I feel awareness and pride of my personality traits, but my physical traits I dont have the same ownership of. When someone sincerely compliments my appearance it takes me by surprise and makes my day.

What does practicing joy mean to you? To me, practicing joy doesn’t mean I never feel down or frustrated. It means that I have made a commitment to myself to feeling joy so when my life is lacking joy I make it a priority to do the things I need to do to find it again. It’s about prioritizing my own happiness and choosing to find joy, even when it’s hard. Especially when it’s hard.

Biggest life lesson you’ve learned lately? I can do hard things.

What’s your definition of success? Building my life in a way that allows to me spend my time and resources on the things I love.

Name 3 things from your Life List that light you up.

Taking Ballet Classes

Starting an ADHD Support Group in my town

Seeing Hamilton with my family when it comes to San Francisco

HEATHER-GRAHAM-QUOTE

What do you do when life gets messy?

  1. Cry
  2. Cry some more
  3. Pull myself together and change my environment. Whether it’s a long drive, a hike with a friend, a visit to a nearby city – a change of scenery is necessary to change my perspective and see a light at the end of the tunnel.

What do you love about yourself? I love my childlike, playful nature – I am still so in awe of the beauty of the world, of the people who live in it and of their stories. My heart is full of compassion for others and I always look for ways to help. I have a passion for life and want to learn everything about everything and I can always find the humor in it all.

Whats your flavor of sexy? Nighttime strolls full of long conversations and stealing passionate kisses on dimly lit street corners.

How are you going to change the world? By hearing, helping and speaking up. In that order.

Best piece of advice you have ever been given? “Stop saying “should” – what do you WANT to do?”

HEATHER-GRAHAM-FAVES

Word of the Year: Believe

Book that made a difference: Eat, Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. I have read it at least once a year for the past 10 years but I continue to come back to it for inspiration and a reminder that I am not alone. It always seems to pull me out of my funk and inspire me to take the action I need to for my own happiness.

Currently obsessed: Hamilton, duh.

Can’t live without: Prescription Sunglasses – LIFE CHANGER!
